Cade Hagan's Late Winner Keeps Sockers FC Perfect in Group F

An 84th minute goal from substitute Cade Hagan lifted Sockers FC to a 3-2 victory over Philadelphia Union on Wednesday afternoon in the second matchday of the 2019 U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-18/19 Playoffs. In the sixth minute, Sockers FC goalkeeper Roman Celentano was called into action early as he was able to tip away a header from Philadelphia Union attacker Patrick Bohui for a corner.

Celentano made another terrific stop in the 18th minute as he denied an opportunity from just outside the box by Selmir Miscic. Bohui laid the ball into the path of Miscic and his shot from five yards outside of the box was tipped over by Celentano who made an acrobatic save to deny Philadelphia Union the opening goal.

The Union forward took a couple of touches before kissing his shot off the inside of the post, past a diving Celentano to bring the MLS Academy side level.

Seconds after the restart Sockers FC went back in front courtesy of Stefan Stojanovic. The Chicago area side took the kickoff to start the second stanza and Philadelphia Union never got a touch before Omar Ramadan played a ball toward Stojanovic who got in behind a Union defender and slipped home the first chance of the second half to give Sockers FC a 2-1 lead.

Philadelphia Union pulled themselves back even for the second time on an outstanding individual effort by Miscic. Picking up the ball just a few yards outside the box, Miscic danced through a pair of defenders from a tight angle and found just enough space to tuck the ball inside the back post, tying the game at 2-2 in the 56th minute.

Two minutes later Union defender Dante Huckaby prevented his team from going right back behind as he made a goal line clearance, denying Stojanovic a second goal in the game.

The Union looked to take its first lead of the game in the 66th minute but Celentano came up big again with a left-footed save on a chance by Bohui who was looking for his second goal of the contest.
