U-13/14 National Showcase Preview

The regular season may be over, but the 2016 U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-13/14 National Showcase kicks off on Monday at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, TX. The signature youth event begins at 4:30 p.m. CT and coincides with the U-15/16 and U-17/18 Development Academy playoffs.

Success stories of former Academy graduates like current U.S. Men's National Team players Christian Pulisic and Darlington Nagbe serve as examples of the progress and development made in the Academy.

The Development Academy's U-13/14 program prioritizes the long-term development of players. U.S. Soccer expanded the Academy to include U-13/14 teams in the fall of 2013, and it will add a U-12 age group and split to single ages at U-13 and U-14 in the Development Academy program beginning this fall.

The U-13/14 Showcase is the culminating event for the 10-month Academy season. 92 unique Development Academy teams will play a combined total of 138 games over a four-day period (June 20-23).

Rather than focusing on results and standings, U-13/14 Showcase emphasizes creative play to develop players to the best of their abilities. The Academy also values the early identification and development of youth talent. To accomplish this goal, U.S. Youth National Team coaches, technical advisors, and scouts will be in attendance watching every game intently, evaluating players in each game and providing feedback.

The Academy will showcase the quality of clubs and players with nine Feature Games broadcast live on U.S. Soccer's YouTube page over the duration of the event. The link to view the streams will be available prior to the kickoff of each game. All Feature Games will be played on Field #4 at the FC Dallas complex.

The first Feature Game kicks off on Monday at 4:30 p.m. CT, between FC Golden State and Capital Area RailHawks - CASL . The following game at 6:30 p.m. CT features hometown FC Dallas and Los Angeles Galaxy, two MLS Academy powerhouses that are looking to finish their seasons on a high note. The third feature game begins at 8:30 p.m. CT and features two additional strong MLS programs with Houston Dynamo vs. New York Red Bulls.

On Tuesday, Ballistic United SC takes on Sockers FC at 4:30 p.m. CT. At 6:30 p.m. CT, two more MLS sides match up as Chicago Fire faces off with Philadelphia Union.

On Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. CT, it's West Coast vs. East Coast as Sacramento Republic FC battles New York City FC.

Thursday begins with another game between east and west at 4:30 p.m. CT, as Central California Aztecs and Players Development Academy meet. At 6:30 p.m. CT, Lonestar SC Academy faces BW Gottschee Academy. To wrap up the Feature Games and the final day of the U-13/14 portion of the event, Crew SC Academy Wolves will take on De Anza Force at 8:30 p.m. CT.
