The U-16/17 Dallas Texans and San Diego Surf will close out the 2019 Spring Showcase feature game schedule on Tuesday, April 30. Both Academies' U-15 teams made it to the Academy Championship semifinals last year. With plenty of those players (12 from the Texans, four from the Surf) moving to their respective U-16/17 teams, the field will be littered with players that have big game experience and won't be overwhelmed by the occasion.

The Dallas Texans are looking to end the Showcase on a high note after its 10-game unbeaten streak was rudely disrupted with two losses to begin the event in Colorado. Despite the setback, the Texans remain second in the highly-competitive Frontier Division and boasts one of the top strikers in the Academy with Baily Wesco (17 goals in 22 appearances). Hannah Boughton has chipped in with 10 goals from midfield while defender Ella Rodgers has shown her toughness both on and off the pitch all season long. If the Texans can pick up all three points, it would be the perfect way to not only end the Showcase, but to set themselves up for the final three matches of the regular season in a bid to finish as one of the nation's top ten seeds heading into the Playoffs.

The San Diego Surf also sit second in its respective division (the Southwest) and is looking to finish the Showcase with a perfect record after wins over Real Colorado 2-0 and Oakwood Soccer Club 4-3. The Surf is on a seven-game unbeaten run in which it has outscored its opponents 22-8 since March 31. Mackenzie Samuel has kept goal in 27 of the club's 28 games this season and is a steady presence in the back. Up top, Hillary Schroeder is proving to be a handful for defenses. The right winger is extremely dangerous when she picks up the ball on the touchline and cuts inside. With 23 goals on the season (19 for the U-16/17s and four for the pilot U-16 group), the Texans will need to be aware of where Schroeder is on the field at all times.
