PLENTY OF INTRIGUE, DRAMA AND GOALS IN FIRST SET OF FEATURE GAMES

U-14 - FC Dallas 3, LA Galaxy 1

LA Galaxy and FC Dallas got the Spring Showcase slate of feature matches off to the perfect start. While both teams created quality chances, the game's first goal didn't come until the 36th minute when Rachel Ryter steered home an Aryanna Jimison corner kick.

FC Dallas doubled its lead just past the hour mark when Cameron Roller sent a perfectly flighted ball from the right wing that dipped just over the outstretched hands of the Galaxy goalkeeper and nestled perfectly inside the far bottom corner. The Frisco, Texas-based team then stamped its authority on the match when Madison Stormberg finished off a devastating counter-attack.

Julia Quinonez handed the Galaxy a deserved goal just before full-time with a beautiful solo effort. The Galaxy created a few more chances in stoppage time, but FC Dallas held on to secure a 3-1 victory.

U-16/17 - Legends FC 2, Penn Fusion Soccer Academy 1

In a battle between two of the top teams at the U-16/17 age group, Legends FC endured a frantic finale to open the Showcase with a victory. The California club struck first when Lexie Yela hammered a shot into the far upper-corner in the first half.

Penn Fusion responded shortly after the break through Kelly Hutton, following a feed from Emma Misal. Legends FC retook the lead in the 64th minute as Haley Halbersma headed in a corner-kick at the back post.

Penn Fusion pressed for an equalizer and almost found it deep in stoppage time. A free kick fell at the feet of Ava Minnier, who struck a shot that pinged off the inside of the far-post. The rebound came back to Minnier and her second attempt looked destined for the goal as well, but Courtney Boone cleared it off the line to make sure all three points stayed with Legends FC.
