RECAP: PATEADORES DOWN CHARGERS 5-1 IN CROSS-COUNTRY CLASH

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (Dec. 4, 2017) - Pateadores U-16/17 utilized three goals in the final 10 minutes of what was otherwise a very tight affair to down local Chargers SC 5-1 on the final day of the U.S. Soccer Boys' Development Academy Showcase at Premier Sports Campus.

After hitting the cross bar in the first half, the SoCal side finally broke through in the 66th minute. A foul was whistled against the Chargers for a play in the air and Pateadores' Nathan Franco played a quick restart which deflected off a defender. The referee allowed the restart to stand, and Owen Zaldivar ran into the box unchallenged before slotting past Chargers' keeper Jacob Schick.

Zaldiva doubled the lead six minutes later when he was played into the box for another 1v1 with the 'keeper and slipped another effort past Schick.

Chargers remained relentless despite the deficit and cut into the lead when a ball play across the box found William Schuchart who tapped it home at the right post in the 80th minute.

With Chargers committing numbers forward in search of the equalizer, Pateadores caught the hosts out three times in the final 10 minutes. Pablo Figueroa slipped through on the left in the 82nd minute followed by Uriel Sanchez finishing another breakaway strike in the 85th.

Pateadores put the exclamation point on the 5-1 win when a cross from the left found Nathan Franco, whose diving header redirected the ball into the upper right corner.
