PREVIEW: FIRST-PLACE TEAMS TAKE SPOTLIGHT FOR FINAL DAY OF FEATURE GAMES AT BOYS' WINTER SHOWCASE

The 2017 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase concludes for the boys on Dec. 4 at Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The final quartet of 12 featured teams will have the opportunity to play in showcase games on the being streamed live on the Development Academy Facebook page, U.S. Soccer YouTube channel and ussoccerda.com.

Here's a preview of the two marquee matchups from the U-16/17 age group taking place on Monday, Dec. 4:

PATEADORES U-16/17 (COSTA MESA, CALIF.) VS. CHARGERS SOCCER CLUB U-16/17 (CLEARWATER, FLA.) - 9:00 a.m. ET

A showdown between two first-place teams is the early feature game on the Boys' Winter Showcase's final day. SoCal's Pateadores will take on local Chargers SC, who plays their regular season games at Premier Sports Campus. Both squads are competing without top players called to duty with the U-17 Men's National Team: Pateadores defender Kenneth Nielsen and Chargers defender Mason Judge.

The Pateadores bring a high-flying attack to Lakewood Ranch. Forward Nathan Franco's 12 goals are good for eighth in the Academy. In the midfield, the consistent Liam Duerksen has also added two goals. The Costa Mesa club suffered just its second loss of the season in its Showcase opener, a 2-1 loss at the hands of the New York Red Bulls, but the Pats earned a point in their second game, a 2-2 draw with Atlanta-area Concorde Fire.

Playing with a home field advantage, Chargers SC sit at first place in the Southeast Division. Forward William Shuchart spearheads the attack, with 13 goals in 13 games, fifth-best in the Academy. Goalkeeper Jacob Schick has been solid this season, while defender Nathan Harriel anchors the back line. The Chargers put on a strong showing in their opener this week, downing D.C. United 3-1 on the back of two Shuchart goals, but suffered their third loss of the season to the Sacramento Republic on Saturday, falling 3-1.

FC DALLAS U-16/17 (FRISCO, TEXAS) VS. NEW YORK CITY FC (NEW YORK, N.Y.) - 11:15 a.m. ET

Two MLS academies close out the Showcase slate of feature games. First place in the Frontier Division, FC Dallas arrived in Florida on a roll and have continued its hot streak at the Premier Sports Campus. New York City FC is third in the Northeast Division, holding on to one of the East Conference's final playoff spots.

One of the most productive MLS clubs for Homegrown player production, FC Dallas rode into Lakewood Ranch with a perfect 7-0 mark. The club hasn't slowed down, defeating both SacramentoRepublic and the Red Bulls 3-0 in its first two games. Dallas' attack is headlined by two of the Central Conference's top goal scorers: Beni Redzic and Johan Gomes, whose 10 and seven goals are second and seventh in the region. Nathan Toledo holds down the back line in front of steady goalkeeper Seth Wilson.

NYC also sports a pair of dangerous forwards in Sal Rasizzi and Nicholas Kapandze, who have netted 10 and six goals, respectively for the Blues. The club has split results at the Showcase, falling 0-2 in its opener to the Vancouver Whitecaps but besting North Carolina FC 3-2 on Saturday. Harrison Robledo has been consistent for New York City in the midfield, while defender Joao Victor Souza has been critically important in the defensive half.
