The 2016 U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-15/16 and U-17/18 Playoffs begin Wednesday, June 22nd, at Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas.

Beginning June 22 at 5:00 p.m. CT, the 32 best youth clubs in the U.S. from each age group face off over a five-day period(June 22-26) to advance to the Academy Championships. The Academy Playoffs field was determined through 21 automatic qualification spots and 11 wild card berths over the course of the 2015-16 season.

Last season, FC Dallas lifted the trophy over New York Red Bulls in the U-15/16 age group, while Chicago Fire defeated Real Salt Lake AZ in the U-17/18 age group to be crowned 2014-15 champions.

The Academy will showcase the quality of the players and clubs during six Feature Games broadcasted live on U.S. Soccer's YouTube page over the duration of the event. The link to view the streams will be available prior to kickoff of each game. All Feature Games will be played on Field #4 in the FC Dallas complex.

On Wednesday, at 5:00 p.m. CT, the FC Dallas U-15/16s (23-2-0) start off the tournament against another Major League Soccer Academy,D.C. United U-15/16 (12-9-5). FC Dallas come into the competition as the top team from the regular season, scoring 77 goals and only conceding 16. The second Feature Game is between two more MLS Academy squads as Houston Dynamo U-17/18 (18-4-4) takes on Seattle Sounders FC U-17/18 (15-9-7) at 7:30 p.m. CT. Two Dynamo players, Juan Flores and Christian Lucatero, earned professional contracts with the senior team this season.

The second round of Playoffs Feature Games kicks off on Friday 5:00 p.m. CT between Group G MLS Academy clubs, New England Revolution U-15/16 (13-5-8) and Sporting Kansas City U-15/16 (12-9-5). At 7:30 p.m. CT, Sockers FC U-17/18 (17-5-3) battle Pateadores U-17/18 (18-11-7) in Group C play. Pateadores earned a wildcard spot in the Playoffs with the help from the team's top goal scorer, Eder Oliva, who scored 16 goals in regular season play.

The final two Feature Games (Sunday, June 26 at 5:00 p.m. CT and 7:30 p.m. CT) for each age group will be determined at the end of the first two days of group stage play on Friday.

The top team from each of the eight Playoffs groups will advance to the single-game knockout rounds.. The U-15/16s play July 6th, followed by the U-17/18s on July 7th. The four winners from the knockout games will advance to the Academy Championships, which take place July 14th (semifinals) and 16th (final and third place games) at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, California.
