Alumni: Four Academy Products Named to Team of the Week in MLS (Wk 27)

In Week 27 of the MLS regular season, four Academy products broke through to earn their place on the Team of the Week. Revs midfielder Diego Fagundez (New England Revolution Academy) led the charge with a goal and an assist in a 3-0 victory over Orlando City SC on Saturday. Teammate and fellow New England Revolution Academy product Scott Caldwell joins Fagundez on the Team of the Week after showcasing his presence in the midfield with Jermaine Jones out on National Team duty. Two FC Dallas Academy products made the list as midfielder Victor Ulloa and goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez helped Dallas secure a 3-0 win in Columbus on Sunday.

Men's National Team

  • USA vs BRA: Men's National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has added Seattle Sounders Academy product Jordan Morris to the roster for the match against Brazil.
    • 5 Academy products available for selection against Brazil: Joe Corona, Aron Johannsson, Jordan Morris, DeAndre Yedlin, and Gyasi Zardes.
  • USA vs PER: Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy Academy) and DeAndre Yedlin (Crossfire Premier & Seattle Sounders Academy) each made their 14th appearances of the year. Aron Johannsson (IMG Academy) subbed on in the 71st minute for Bobby Wood.

Youth National Teams

  • U-23 MNT vs Qatar: Seven Academy products were named to the Starting XI: Luis Gil (Pateadores), Ethan Horvath (Real Colorado), Emerson Hyndman (FC Dallas), Benji Joya (De Anza Force), Eric Miller (Minnesota Thunder Academy), Marc Pelosi (De Anza Force), Oscar Sorto (LA Galaxy & Pateadores). Benji Joya scored the opening goal from the penalty spot in the 2-0 victory over Qatar in the team's final match before Olympic Qualifying.
  • U-20 MNT vs. Israel: Ten Academy products were named to the Starting XI: Justen Glad (Real Salt Lake-AZ), Nicholas Hinds (Kendall SC), Cameron Lindley (Chicago Fire & Indiana Fire Academy), Victor Mansaray (Seattle Sounders FC), James Murphy (Players Development Academy), Erik Palmer-Brown (Sporting Kansas City), Emmanuel Sabbi (Chicago Magic PSG), Martin Salas (FC Dallas), Sebastian Saucedo (Real Salt Lake-AZ), Justin Vom Steeg (Real So Cal). A cross from PDA's James Murphy was turned in by Israel for an own goal and RSL's Sebastian Saucedo drew and converted a penalty kick, leading the team to a 2-0 victory claiming 6th place at the 2015 Stevan Vilotic Tournament.

Across Major League Soccer

  • Juan Agudelo (New York Red Bulls) scored in the 84th minute to give New England Revolution a 2-0 lead over Orlando City SC on Saturday. This goal was Agudelo's 6th of the 2015 campaign. Revs went on to defeat Orlando 3-0.
  • Harry Shipp (Chicago Fire and Chicago Magic PSG) assisted Kennedy Igboananike in the 59th minute to give Chicago a 3-2 lead but Montreal fought back to defeat Chicago 4-3.
  • Eriq Zavaleta (Chivas USA) headed in his first career MLS goal against Seattle in a narrow 2-1 defeat on Saturday.
  • Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas) tallied his second assist of the season in a 3-0 FC Dallas victory over Columbus on Sunday.

Abroad

U.S. U-17 MNT midfielder and PA Classics product Christian Pulisic played 45 minutes for Borussia Dortmund in a friendly against St. Pauli on Monday. Pulisic featured mostly on the left and right wings and shifted to a more central role in the later parts of the game. Most recently, Pulisic was with the U-17 MNT at the Vaclav Jezek Tournament in Czech Republic.
